PDFPrintE-mail

Voters registered in Comanche County who want to vote early in the March 6 presidential preferential primary election may cast ballots at the County Election Board office Friday and Monday in Room 206 of the courthouse, 315 SW 5th. A two-member, bipartisan absentee voting board will be on duty from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

“In-person absentee voters will complete an application form when they arrive. They are not required to state a reason for voting in-person absentee,” said Monica Baughman, election board secretary. “They are required to swear they have not voted a regular mail absentee ballot and that they will not vote at their polling place on election day.”

Matthew Mucker usually keeps a low profile as he works at the Comanche County Courthouse, quietly emptying trash cans from every office while exchanging pleasantries with the employees. Tuesday was no different— except that Mucker was celebrating his 82nd birthday.

“He very well may be the oldest working person in Comanche County,” said Wendell Durham, a courthouse reporter.

While there’s no way to verify Mucker is the oldest working person in the county, it would be difficult to question that he is probably the most beloved employee in the building.
