In Loving Memory: Radford "Rab" Hewes (1958-2012)

Comanche County lost a good man last week, as Radford “Rab” Hewes passed away. Hewes was an integral part of Paradise Valley, serving as a volunteer fire fighter for approximately 42 years. At the time of his passing, Hewes served as Paradise Valley Assistant Fire Chief, a position he had held since 2006. Fighting Fires in the county was a passion of Hewes, one he passed on to his children. His sons, Brent and Brian, are volunteer fire fighters for Paradise Valley and Elgin, respectively.

He is survived by his wife of more than 30 years, Ramona Hewes, and his two sons, Brent and Bryan Hewes. “Rab” Hewes answered his final alarm Friday, June 15.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Cowboy Church, located 3.5 miles north of Porter Hill at 15513 US Hwy. 62. A procession of firefighters will leave the Paradise Valley Fire Department at 9 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Paradise Valley Fire Department or a memorial fund in Rab’s name at any Liberty National Bank.
